afghans and pillows

Isn’t this the most divine use of colour? I believe these are  Kaffe Fassett designed throws and the cushions are cross stitch kits. This photos was found on flickr in my Decorating With Textiles group and the lady who had it there did not know where it came from as she found it on a Chinese photosharing site! I am presently knitting a striped throw but in muted shades of heather and would adore to have some of those cushions.

This week’s “Friday Fassett Finds” is a stunning quilt which has been used as a curtain. This pattern is from one of Kaffe Fassett’s earlier quilting books and the blind is meant to have a stained glass effect when seen with light pouring through the window. I think you will agree that Amy of eyelovequilts has done a fabulous job of interpreting Kaffe’s design. I hope I can do half as good a job…I have almost collected enough vibrant fabrics to make two of these for our home.

Scrappy Reds

More of Sally’s wonderful creations…..traditional bed topper or non traditional wall hanging. This quilt is another one of Sally’s interpretations of Kaffe Fassett’s designs and is made using his richly patterned fabrics. Sally your work is wonderful as always and your home looks so inviting!

Leafy Rosy Quilt

Friday’s Flickr find is old favourite of mine, Anita of Rhubarb Patch on flickr and Blooming Workshop on WordPress. Anita has the most amazing photostream where she not only shows us her work as it progresses [wips]

Quilt Sandwich 3
she also has the most wonderfully creative way of showcasing her completed quilt tops and quilts. This is just a tiny glimpse into the wonders of her photostream. She is also a lover of Kaffe Fassett’s work and in my opinion is one of the best interpreters of his work…part from Sally that is

fun at the finish

the best part of sewing quilts or bags for me is the final bit…not because it is so near to the end but I adore the hand sewing and the neatening and the tucking in of threads etc.

Crosses meets Sparkle

I am quietly excited about the inauguration tomorrow night and am gearing myself towards staying up for the whole thing live. There will be plenty of hand sewing to keep me going and also some cutting out of squares for my cross quilt which I have been longing to do for years. The pattern is in Kaffe Fassett’s Quilt Road [pictured above] which I bought last year with my birthday money. Hope everyone has a wonderful few days….change has come to the world…and long overdue too…. I am so excited to be able to share this historic event with my son.
