My name is Kathleen and I live in Sydney, Australia, with my family. After all my friends (and lots of strangers) admired my designs, I decided to launch this blog to showcase my quilts and the stories behind them. Since then the blog has become a place to showcase my thrift finds and to promote artisans and sewing and quilting art news.

I love fabric and handbags and have a huge selection of both sourced from quilt shops, the internet, vintage shops and designers. I also love to manipulate fabric into quilts, throws, table runners/wall hangings, bags, wraps, etc. My particular love is to use upholstery fabrics (brocades, velvets, silks) in throws. These are very tactile and every throw is a one off creation. I am also determined to save as many sample books as is humanly possible from landfill and I use a lot of quite rare vintage fabric samples in my throws and table runners and handbags.

I have sewn all my life and I branched into quilting in 2000. Other loves are reading and collecting vintage fashion, jewellery and china.

  1. Hi Kathleen, sorry to get back to you so later, everything was so hectic this weekend. But yes, the blogroll add is fine, you’re on mine too!

I don’t know why the projects blog was coming up, I put shetypes as my default so that’s weird. In terms of Christmas, I totally celebrate it, I’m a Christian (that’s perfectly fine to ask, hehe); but since the wedding was consuming all of our free time (and money), we have sort of opted out of Christmas this year, too bad.

Thanks for letting me know what is going on Stina and the blog link has gone now so that’s good!

  2. Hi, Kathleen! Your quilts are beautiful; you are very talented! Thank you for sharing your talent and creations! Love, Wardeh

    Thanks so much Wardeh!

  3. I love quilts. I have made a couple, but they didn’t turn out that great. I have a “Crazy” quilt that my great grandmother made for my father about 50 years ago. It is priceless.

    Have a great day!

Great to see you here……good day to you too…thanks Angie!!

  4. I came here from Sulz’s blog as I thought you must be a heck of a nice person! :) Just to say hi. Frankly sewing is not my interest at all but I admire artists and you are one.

Thanks Nita I told my son about you as he is a writer, he thinks he remembers you from the forums. He is CJWriter and like you also writes poetry. You may have known who he is from my comments on Sulz blog. It is great to chat with people from such differing countries and of such varied ages and interests. I try to read other than craft blogs so that I meet people of all kinds.

  5. Hiya again… Just dropping a note to tell you that you look really vivacious! :D I hope you don’t mind me saying but you are aging gracefully! :D

Well thanks Julianne…pity I can’t see your blog to check you out!

  6. Hi Kathleen,

Im a new visitor to your blog – I followed you from a comment left on mine. Your blog looks very interesting and although I have no quilting or sewing interests, I do love to see and admire the skills of others. I love books too – so look forward to your reviews.

When I came onto your blog today I couldn’t help noticing the template you use: Fall Season. I really like it and it seems to have many of the features I require. I downloaded a version in a zipped file but have no idea how to get it onto my wordpress site. I searched around for “idiot proof” instructions but I can’t find any! I’m not very technical although my husband has extensive computer skill – but even he wasn’t sure. Can you point me in the direction of how to do it? Many thanks.

I look forward to exploring your blog further.

    Best wishes.

  7. Hi Author…my son is responsible for everything to do with the design aspect here ….I just try to keep up by posting entries etc. For instance I just tweeted for the first time but it has not come up yet so shall be bothering him about that later.

Part of the problem with this theme may be that we are both self hosted now…that may be why you had trouble with his link yesterday…he was mid changeover. I shall let him know by sending him this comment and am sure he will get back to you. His new theme is stunning and really eye catching. Like your husband he is very computer savvy but some have called him a genius so he may have a bit more knowledge …and he used to help on the forums at WordPress before the snarkiness got to him that is.

Good to meet a fellow reader ..am trying to review books as I read them now so shall eventually have a decent amount of posts. I also cover thrift and vintage shopping and have been known to vent about issues as well so this is not solely a craft blog anymore. A lot of purely quilting blogs do not go into any other areas and I like bit of variety as well as trying to be a supportive person online. We never really know what other’s lives are like offline so I do try to be responsible and honest in my actions here and also try to be mindful of the company I keep online as well…so you are very welcome here!
