The delightfully generous designer Kathy Mack of Pink Chalk Studios has allowed me to use her flickr photos to show you her gorgeous designs…some of which were featured on the cover…congratulations Kathy!

Quilting Arts Gifts 2009

Here is a little peek into Kathy’s design process..

yes…she dreamt it! Thanks so much Kathy for sharing your talent with us and for your generosity in allowing me free reign with your flickr stream.

Again I am brought to mind of other designers I have featured who were also so delightfully generous with their talent…Ruth Eglinton, Cherri of Cherry House Quilts and many many others yet to ber featured….all are incredibly giving of themselves and I do believe it is part of what has made them successful in this business. We are a different breed….as the incident with Ann Champion and Quiltermaker magazine showed… we champion the underdog [ no pun intended] and reward generosity of spirit.

Kathy can also be found here on her blog. I am looking forward to reading more about her design process….anyone who dreams up a design is my type of person!

gorgeous thrifted vintage china for summer 09

Found some gorgeous Johnson’s Australia vintage crockery today….

I adore the colour combination and the simplicity of the design…I think it works well today. It also works with various things I am sewing at present!

Aqua and lace

and these sandals which i found a few years ago…

Satin sandals

I have tried to find the name of the design but no luck so far….but am only up to b on the list of designs…..lots of fun ahead!  I found some great resources though which I will add to a thrifting resources page here soon.

Okay….prices…the cups and saucers were three dollars each set and the bundle of plates and dishes were four dollars…not bad when current Johnson Brother’s plates are going for a minimum eight dollars a plate. I am hoping to mix and match these with a few other sets ….once I find some which will offset it well. Wish me luck in the hunt!

Tara’s work can be found here and Tara is on Facebook and flickr. I love Tara’s work for the sheer beauty and skill but also because she is a great ambassador for Australian wool and fabric.
