Some great ideas here using upholstery fabric from my Decorating with Textiles group on flickr.

I love bedspreads made of upholstery fabrics as they are so tactile as well as being lovely and weighty…a must have for me to get some sleep.

  1. Wow, those are great. I love the quilt in the second picture. I’ll bet it’s nice and warm.

I like using upholstery fabric, but every once in a while I break a needle on my sewing machine with it. :)

  2. I love that quilt too Angie. Boy do I ever know what you mean about needles breaking….my glasses protect me as they fly at me like a deadly weapon! Definitely worse with these weights but worth persevering for me.

  3. I just received some upholstery samples that I’d like to use in a quilt. Once I take the book apart and separate all the pieces, how do I get all that glue and sticky back paper off of the samples?

    • Hi Julie..I usually cut that section completely off as I used to soak them but the surface is often sticky and really bad for your sewing machine.

  4. Loved your bed spread so vibrant….. so different from my bedroom here in the UK all simple and white egyptian cotton. I think it is because I work with so much colour – I just need to calm my mind at the end of the day.

I often think of Australia when we are in the middle of our summer and again I think of you all in the heat of your summer when we are all frosted up in winter.

Take a look at my summer very English garden on our village open gardens day.
