Fridays Finds and the Padded Jacket
magikquilter July 25th, 2008
Luckily I found this wonderful padded jacket at a charity shop as it is toatally freezing here…the WYD pilgrims were indeed fortunate that they were sleeping out last week not this one…it has rained almost all day today and absolutely stormed overnight. Very good for the drought but making it quite chilly. I am sitting here in my coral fleece dressing gown as well as a fleece blanket and the convention heater is on 1200 watts…we cannot go any higher than that or it blows our entire unit’s power supply!
I love this silk handbag which I also found but will not be using it in the rainy conditions in case it gets ruined. I saw this bag a year or so ago in The Tree of Life store in Westfield Bondi Junction so was delighted to find it. The book is one my husband found for me…I love vintage and indeed any kind of jewellery and it looks a treat against the creamish off white of the handbag. The whole lot goes so well together that it is going into the flickr group which has colour themes and thrift shopping!
Okay the bag was $5 as new and the book $4 and the padded jacket as new from Myer was $8….a good haul!

I bought a padded waistcoat/vest this week! Sydney has certainly turned it on…
I love that bag, the colours are really pretty and I like the grapes etched into the handle. What a great find.
I think you might be a bit of a bag lady… LOL
I am a bag lady in more ways than one and a shopping trolley would come in mighty handy for all my craft stuff that I am into each night, could wheel it around the unit and be all organised! Glad you liked the bag too I really liked it when I saw it in Tree Of Life a few years ago so was really pleased when it came into Vinnies. I have all my evening style bags in a large chest style box…one of three …on top of my wardrobe. My husband has games and stuff on top of his wardrobe…..I could actually use another wardrobe as well…..read somewhere that women need twice as much as men. It is obvious really as we have more changes and choices what with colours and stuff. My hubby would be happy to get away with only having two of everything but would still want the whole wardrobe to himself!!! If he goes hiking for five months then one thing I will do STRAIGHT away is take over his wardrobe for sewing!!!
I like those padded waistcoats and am tempted to knit a waistcoat too as I remember knitting some in the seventies and they are useful. My friend from flickr in America sent me two hand knitted scarves this week which was so sweet of her…and a huge pile of Kaffe Fassett samples and Liberty as well!!!
