Fluff Five

Thanks Sulz for this meme, sounds like fun, fluffy things usually are! Here we go:

Five things found in your bag

1] Sunglasses…..Have photophobia and am blinded without them.

2] Wallet with credit card as well as money just in case I see that one special thrift item that I have to have!

3] Tissues as I have sensitivities to cigarette smoke and perfumes, anything really and it gets the old sinuses going

4] Notepad and pen for writing down quilt and design ideas and to write down websites that I see in design and art magazines while I am at the coffee shop.

5]Unscented wet wipes as I often find they come in handy, if not for myself then for others.

Five favourite things in your room

1]My vintage sewing table, it is quite like a shaker design.

2]My tablerunner on my sewing table, it is a gorgeous colour.

3]My three Chinese ginger jars, hand painted and they are lovely colours.

4]My turquoise artwork made from a photo frame and four gorgeous cards that CJ and his father and I have bought over the years.

5]My duvet cover I bought from Target on sale for $69 instead of $169, it is chinese faux silk patchwork.

Five things you have always wanted to do

1]Go to a Kaffe Fassett workshop.

2]See The Gilmore Girls from start to finish.

3]See some of the churches and buildings housing some of the works Tiffany and William Morris, especially the tapestries and the stained glass.

4]Visit America.

5] Tidy my work/storage area.

Five things you are currently into

1]Our flickr group about Laura Ashley, William Morris and Liberty.

2]Our flickr group fabric, patchwork and quilting.

3]Our flickr group fabric, patchwork and quilting reclaimed.

4]Our flickr group fabric, patchwork and quilting in the home.

5]Blogging, and guess what I no longer check my stats religiously!

Five people you want to tag

1] Bombshell.…give the bastards more fodder Ivy

2]Jacquie….take your time and no offense if you hate these things and do not want to do it, know you are busy at present, think these things are open ended.

3]Stina …although she too is MIA

4]Janey....although she already owes me one so she can take her time…also she has three kids and two dogs and a sick cat!

5]Ginger ..like she hasn’t already got enough to do!

This was fun and as for being fluff it actually exercised a few brain cells!

Your “take along” items look useful! I’ve seen some authentic (and not so authentic) Shaker furniture and I love the simplicity and elegance of the design. We have Morris and Tiffany in common. I went to a Tiffany exhibit in San Francisco a while back and loved it. I could have stared at some of the windows for hours, but they moved us along. I have a poster of one of them now. You surely do like your Flickr! :) Nice meme responses!

Well that’s a shame about the Tiffany exhibit….it reminds me of the Star Trek exhibit here at the science museum when they moved CJ and I and everyone along. With Tiffany I wonder if they do that in the churches where the stained glass is in situ, surely they can’t kick you out of there! Even when services were on in St Pauls Cathedral in London they did not ask people to leave…just to be sort of hushed. CJ learned a new thing yesterday when I told him that Adelaide has a high percentage of Morris’ work, I think I read it has the most in any one city outside of England, I must check that but don’t usually pull these obscure gems out of my murky brain unless I read them somewhere. Something to do with wealthy migrants.
CJ is concerned about my flickr usage but as I am just starting up these groups I have needed to “invite” various photos after tag searching, which has taken some time. I found some gems of what I think were the original maxi dresses of Laura Ashley worn by very fashionable ladies in the 60’s and early seventies. These are black and white photos and just such a time capsule…my sister had a maxi when we visited England in 1970 for a family holiday..its like seeing that time again! Now that I have established the groups it is just a matter of commenting and keeping any discussions current…I have met so many wonderful people from all over the world ..a lot more than by blogging alone and it does take less time once the groups are up and running.

I will check to see if Sulz hit you with the meme too!

ooh, i want to do gilmore girls marathon too! and where in america do you want to visit?

I guess the west coast right up to Seattle but I now have blogging friends on the other coast as well. Obviously would like to pay my respects at Ground Zero as well and see New York. The question is where not to go really! Then we mustn’t forget Hartford and Yale and all those places Loralie goes on about…wonder if it was ever filmed on location…apart from the Yale bits that is.

What a fun tag. It’s always fun to find out a few little things about my blogging friends. Want to come to America…well, the midwest is a beautiful place…I would be a great tour guide, so if you’re ever in the neighborhood… Thanks for the tag too!

Thanks for playing Jacquie it does help us find out more about our blogmates doesn’t it? How is Kansas in the aftermath of the earthquake? Do not know if there was any structural damage anywhere. The midwest is stunning if your last posts photos are anything to go by. Looking forward to reading everyone’s fluff.. Ginger has done it already!!!

Well, sulz tagged Juan who tagged me. If you’re really interested… ;) you can read mine here. This was a particularly good meme in that I was introduced to some wonderful new blogs! I’d no idea about Adelaide and Morris. Such an interesting person he was, both artistically and philosophically. The next time I’m on the east coast (doesn’t happen often) I want to visit the Shaker Museum. I would hope if you were to visit actual sites with Tiffany glass still intact you’d be able to spend time there! Here in Arizona we are fortunate to have Taliesin West, the former home and design center of Frank Lloyd Wright. Don’t know if you are a fan, but I find some of his art glass similar to Tiffany, although more “spare”, and craftsman-like. (If you click on the “Art and Design” button there, you’ll find some quilting items.) :)

[...] missed any, I promise that with this post I end all back posting!), MQ decides to hit me up with a meme.  How could I refuse her when she’s such a darling?  So, let’s see what I reveal to [...]

I’ve actually seen all but the last 2 episodes of the Gilmore Girls. My mother began watching it when she saw that Rory was going through the same grades as I was. It was funny when I got my letter of acceptance for College and we dubbed it the “big virgin envelope”. And I love memes, and you tagging me gave me a reason to get my butt hustling and my blog updated, which it now mercifully is.

One of the things I have always wanted to do since childhood is visit Australia. Maybe they should do a reality show called Trading Countries, swap places with someone for a couple weeks. I’d do it :), who knows maybe there already is a show like that. Shows how with it I am :) (not very)
Have a great week, Kathleen
