Hillary on Kaffe

Much to my astonishment when I watched CBS evening news this morning…..we have Foxtel and get all the stuff live….I saw Hillary Clinton being interviewed by Katie Couric on the economy and wait for it……..

She was standing in front of what appears to be a beautifully executed quilt …..Handkerchief Corners ………..which is a Kaffe Fassett design. Not only that but Hillary had on a stunning yellow suit with a black collar and we all know that Kaffe’s Handkerchief Corners has an acid yellow centre to each block!!!!!!! What a stunning move by either Hillary or her stylist/advisor. Now she gets the quilters of America behind her and the arty types and the fashionistas!!!! Stroke of genius whoever thought up that combination. You couldn’t accidentally get that colour scheme going, it had to be planned.

I salute you Hillary and whoever was behind it. Kaffe are you out there, what do you think?[He is probably not too keen on me after my expose of the colouring of one of his quilt kits] Anyway I salute you too Kaffe, imagine how he must feel……I mean even if it isn’t his own quilt it is his design and his genius, all hail Kaffe! By the way, I am just high on quilting and politics ……haven’t had a coffee in hours.

I also am excited cause it is the first time I have embedded a video and sent emails  straight off the video on CBS.

By the way, you will have to suffer through the other candidates as Hillary isn’t on until the last minute or so, but it is worth watching the rest to see how dull the others look by comparison.

the background in hillary’s video is a quilt? wow, that’s a really gorgeous quilt… doesn’t even look like a quilt!

i’ve been blogging for over 2 years and i have still yet to learn how to embed a youtube. nice one. ;)

Sulz I am so pumped I can’t believe it…….I am making two of that quilt in the broadcast…one in normal quilting fabrics and one in silks and brocades, yum. He is the artist who inspired me to use colour and texture…he’s a living treasure and has exhibited in the Victoria and Albert Museum in London[and many other venues] He was an artist before he did quilting but he used to paint quilts in his paintings. There is a small chance it could be a painting of his design but I doubt it as I really thought the outfit was part of the whole image and the quilt is about texture, it would glow with the yellows in the centre of each square. I have got to calm down it is 3.04am here!!!!

haha i don’t think there’s anyone who that excited about a presidential candidate interview. :P

Wow I can’t believe you noticed that. But on a slight political note she STILL won’ t be getting my vote. Sorry to all of you out there who like her I”m all for a woman pres but I just don’t feel it should be her.

Nobody seems to have written about it…..this quilter provided a link to this blog post. She is an art quilter from the Pacific Northwest and has some great patterns at a reasonable price.

Thanks Janey I love when you comment cause it gives my readers something pretty to look at [apart from my humble quilts that is]

You know, you got to love it when you notice things like that. MQ, great eye! But I can’t help but wonder… can you imagine having the job of the person who thought of that whole concept? I wouldn’t mind the gig. I think it’s something right up my alley.

And MQ, I’ve been absolutely lurking to just touch my screen at the beautiful fabrics you use. As so noted above, you do have a wonderful eye for color and detail.

BSW thanks you are the second person to say I have a good eye….but I was listening to the candidates too and I just love colour, it sort of electrifies me…so it sort of took my breath away.
Thanks for the compliment, I also love fabric, as I have said many times to many a bored friend, and this is a great outlet for my passion……. where I get to meet others who share their obsessions….hello shoe girl……or is it cupcake girl?
And yes I do think about the person who thought up that whole scenario……if I were 25 years younger….and living in America[actually there are a lot of creative Aussies snatched away from our shores by greedy political types, bugger I wish I had a time machine]
Sorry got a little carried away….that is my other obsession, reading speculative fiction.

Hi MQ, I haven’t visited for a while but everytime I do I remember why I enjoy your blog. Lurve KF fabrics, quilts, etc. You’re right, he is inspirational - I used to have his knitting books years ago. Sent them to a book exchange… bugger, wasn’t thinking clearly on that one.

Thanks for the comment re my “colleen”, though she’s actually more a drama than an Irish lass. LOL

Are you a member of SCQ?

Kate that is spooky, I gave two of his books to the library as they did not have any….this was the early nineties and luckily over the past few years have found them again at St Vinnies. Now I have almost all of his except a few of the Rowan ones. I love to look at his room designs, the way he plays with colour and texture. I am a member of absolutely nothing, until the last few years I did not even know any quilters. I am so happy now to be chatting with craftspeople worldwide.

HI MQ!! Thanks for visiting my Blog (and the nice comments!).
I’ll be eagerly awaiting your website…and would love to link! : )
I love the Kaffe F designs too!!! Maybe I’ll be inspired to hook a rug using those glorious colours some day! Sunnie : )

Do you think she’s courting the female vote? An interesting subliminal message.

But the quilt and the KF fabrics are glorious. I’d love to see the two quilts you’re working on.

Power and confidence was my take on the suit and quilt and the way she totally dominated the eye…there was so much colour there yet I was not distracted by it. Very few women that I have spoken with even watched her…just Barack or Macain. I would love to hear a colour expert’s take on it …you know like a body language expert!

Wow, I’m impressed you caught that. Thanks for sharing, and providing the video. It was really interesting to see.

[...] the way I have an update on my Hillary on Kaffe scoop, felt like a real journalist when I researched this, found out through Liza that the quilt was from [...]
